Upload photos, purchase receipts, and supporting documents. Choose a public identifying photo and which eligible files stay with the instrument when ownership changes.
Record setups, fretwork, electronics, structural repairs, and other work. Owner-reported entries are distinguished from work documented by a participating shop.
Track purchase dates, warranty terms, registration deadlines, and claim notes. Save the documents you may need and prepare a claim information package.
Receive and accept ownership invitations from participating retailers and manufacturers. Instrument history and eligible documents can stay connected while personal contact information stays out of public records.
Submit a lost or stolen report from your collection and keep incident details together. Anyone can check current published notices for free.
Check lost / stolen notices →Choose an email and password, verify your email, and open My Instruments. Your personal collection starts here.
Add your instrument’s make, model, and serial number if it has one. If a record already exists, request ownership rather than start a duplicate. Ownership claims may require review.
Add a photo or receipt, record a service visit, and keep warranty details handy. An NFC tag is optional; you can use GuitarFax without one.
Free lookup shows whether an instrument has report-eligible records and current published lost or stolen notices. A GuitarFax report brings the available, approved history into a dated snapshot you can share or print.
Personal accounts include one free report per account year, for an instrument with eligible records. Its shareable online view lasts 30 days from generation.
Explore the clearly labeled sample report →Reports include only eligible information approved for report sharing. Private receipts, contact details, and private files are not included. A report reflects available records, not a guarantee of a complete history or legal ownership.
Participating shops can find or create an instrument record, document service visits, and copy a permanent service reference into their shop notes. Recording work does not require taking ownership of the instrument.
Retailers can manage instruments and send customer ownership invitations. Manufacturers can create original instrument records, maintain their own models, and document original build specifications.
Business workspaces support team access and keep private customer details separate from the instrument’s history. Manufacturer-provided, shop-documented, and owner-reported information remain distinct.
Business onboarding is currently arranged with GuitarFax. Contact us to help test a shop, retailer, or manufacturer workspace.
Ask about business access →No. You can create an account, keep instrument records, and use owner tools without a tag. Broader NFC tag ordering and provisioning are still in development. A tag connects to a record; it does not, by itself, establish authenticity or ownership.
No. Adding an instrument does not automatically publish your collection or uploads. Public photos, public instrument information, and report sharing have separate controls. Some documents can stay with an instrument for its registered owners; uploader-private files remain separate.
No. GuitarFax helps you organize warranty information and prepare claim details. Coverage, eligibility, registration, and claim decisions remain with the warranty provider. Automatic manufacturer registration and broader integrations are future work.
Personal accounts receive one free report credit per account year, starting from signup; unused credits do not roll over. A report can be generated when an instrument has report-eligible records. Its shared online content is available for 30 days from generation. You can download or print it during that period. The verification page and issuance dates remain after the online content expires; saved copies do not expire. Additional report purchases are not open yet.
No. GuitarFax identifies the source of information, and records may be incomplete or contain mistakes. Owner-reported information is distinguished from participating shop and manufacturer contributions. Ownership registration is not a legal determination of title, and a reported stolen notice is not a police finding.
Tag ordering, broader business enrollment, paid report purchases, Reverb inventory integration, and automatic manufacturer warranty registration are not generally available. This early release is actively being tested and improved. Send questions or feedback to support@guitarfax.org.
